1st Order of Business:

  • Recap on topics covered in the meeting on Jan 26, 2007:
    • There will be 10 teams in the Tuesday night competitive league and 6-8 in the Sunday night Recreational league.
    • Competitive league starts on April 17 and the recreational league will start on April 15
    • The game times for the Recreational league will be 4:30pm and 6:00pm mostly at the mission sports fields
    • The recreation league needs to establish before the season starts, whether they want to have a deduction from the cost of league fees for the games that fall on long weekends or if they want to have makeup games. There are 3 games that will fall on long weekends during the season.
    • The competitive league has a 6pm time slot at belgo and 3 fields at the mission at 6pm and at 9:30pm. There is a possibility that we may get the senior slot as last year they hardly used their field at 7:45pm. If they miss 3 games then the slot is open for the taking.
    • There has been a decision that 1 team cannot play in both the recreational league as well as the competitive. But that is open for discussion if the recreational division is not yet full.
    • The league fees are $900 which includes a $50 retainer. The retainer will be used if there is anyone ejected from the game or if there are any teams that do not show up for their game.
    • All ejections from our league will be honoured by SPN and we will be doing the same for them.
    • April 9th APRIL 5th all League fees are due in full. On this same day each team will be receiving the NSA softballs (they are the same as last year. Core 47 for the women and core 44 for the men). Each team will also receive a score book on this day.
    • Each team MUST send at least 1 person representing their team to the umpires clinic. The clinic will be held on March 24th and will cost $20 to attend. Please contact Barry Moore for more information. If you so choose to be an umpire, there is a $70 sanctioning fee that can be paid out in advance or it can be taken from the first few games umpired. The $70 does include a $30 credit towards a uniform (this covers the cost of an umpire hat and t-shirt).

2nd Order of Business - VOTES:

  • The team Kelowna Krunch was voted in by all 7 teams.
  • The team Evolution was voted in by all 7 teams.
  • The rule that that there has to be a female playing back catcher if there is a male pitching or a female pitching if there is a male back catcher was voted out by 4 of the 7 teams for both the recreational league as well as the competitive league.
  • There is now a 3 subs per game rule. The sub must be the last available girl on the line up (voted in by 6 of the 7 teams).

3rd Order of Business - NEW INFORMAION:

  • There is going to be a Bud Light league fundraiser tournament held on the 26-27 of May. All proceeds will be going to the league. Any teams are welcome to play. Teams that play in the league will be charged $250 and any teams that are not part of the NSA league will pay $325 to participate. There will be NSA and Bud Light prises. We do require a First Aid Volunteer and anyone else willing to lend a helping hand for the tournament are always welcome. The tournament will be a round robin & double knock-out style tournament. There is a possibility that it could be a single knock out depending if we can get the fields on Friday. Diana will let us know. There is a 40 team limit.
  • The Playoffs will be on Aug 17-19 on all 4 mission fields. This is a double knock out tournament. It was suggested that both the recreation league and the competitive league should play in separate divisions/tournaments with the possibility that the bottom competitive team could be switched to the recreation league and the top recreation team to be switched to the competitive league. There will be a vote posted on the website.

Miscellaneous Notes:

  • There will be another indoor preseason practice held on March 17 and the 24 from 10am-12pm. The cost to participate is $5 a person and will be held and the Capitol News Center.
